What People Are Saying

from Google & Yelp

"Supposedly cool and hip! Their strength definitely lies in the cold brew, as name suggests. Hot coffee not the best. Stroppy, twitchy manager type sitting at the bar by the coffee machine, asked a sweet girl with her extremely well behaved dog to leave. Kept a keen eye on everything going on - pretty uncomfortable. Was not asked as desk whether we were staying in or taking away so ended up with take away food at a table and I thought the manger person might ask us to leave too. Good music! Full of gen z’ers looking pretty fashionable. Pizza bagel good! Need knife and fork to eat. Maple flavour latte - not strong flavour at all - could do with more. Good coffee flavour. Not enough seating for customer demand for sure. Tofu cilantro wrap - fresh, good and limey but again - not enough balancing flavours. Seating not great, but the idea of seating around the edge just needs a bit more attention, interior very boring, nothing much to loook at but not cool and minimalist either. Kinda like someone put minimum effort in just to get it going."

"We stayed in Newport right behind Nitro. We walked down every morning (4 days!) to get coffee and breakfast and every day was a delight. Riley was the absolute best - she made sure we had a great experience every day. The whipped maple sea salt latte is heaven! On our last morning here, she came by our table and gifted us each a Nitro Bar hat! Totally unexpected and so thoughtful of her. We will definitely be telling all of our friends who visit Newport or Providence to make sure they stop by. Thank you to everyone for an amazing experience!"

"Nitro bar this. Nitro bar that. The vitality of this Rhode Island coffee shop has caused tourists to flock to Newport for a blueberry, strawberry, chocolate, banana matcha. Let me be honest with you, the drinks are GOOD. The food is GOOD. I’m glad I got to try it, I just don’t think I would go out of my way to try it again. if I stumbled upon Thames street and the shop had no line, sure I’d go in and get a drink. But I don’t think it’s worth the hassle. I really appreciate and commend their ability to use creative flavors and brand marketing strategies to garner more talk and buzz around their store. If u happen to be in Newport, try it. But don’t go crazy trying to get a banana matcha."

"Visiting The Nitro Bar in Newport, Rhode Island, left me with mixed feelings. The space is extremely small and crowded, making it tough to find a comfortable spot to enjoy your drink. The atmosphere wasn’t helped by some rude customers, which added to the chaotic vibe. The coffee itself was decent—nothing extraordinary, but it got the job done. The coffee makers worked quickly, which was a plus, ensuring drinks came out fast despite the busy environment. However, the cashier’s attitude was a letdown. She seemed more interested in texting on her phone than taking orders, even sneaking texts under the register while helping customers, which felt unprofessional. Overall, The Nitro Bar has potential with its speedy service and okay coffee, but the cramped space and lackluster customer service make it a hit-or-miss experience."

"as someone who has lived in NYC, the city of long lines for stupid stuff, for almost 5 years now, you couldn’t catch me in a long line waiting for stupid stuff. so! when there was a line outside of nitro bar, this coffee shop I randomly added to our weekend itinerary…I was…annoyed. it must be good? is it worth waiting in a line? cut to 20 minutes later, ordering 3 coffee for my picky coffee family from the nicest people I have ever interacted with at a coffee shop. she suggested we do half sweet if we typically don’t like flavored coffee and that is what I would recommend. The coffees were fantastic and we ended up going back every day even as the line got longer throughout the weekend. Sometimes we went twice. the lemonades were great, blueberry latte killer, vanilla was awesome, banana caramel was surprisingly delicious and cinnamon sugar ended up being my favorite! I had no idea this was the coffee shop I used to watch on TikTok all the time! So I went in completely unbiased but very picky and judgmental about my coffee and my entire family says it’s the best coffee we have ever had. Like the bean itself is toasty and warm and flawless."

"I'm a huge coffee lover, and I take reviews very seriously when it comes to coffee, so I was a little nervous to try Nitro Bar - I wasn't sure if it was..."
