What People Are Saying
from Google & Yelp"It's a small space but very cozy. The atmosphere was nice. Service was good. Food was better than expected. My pear martini was very good. This little place gets crowded so reservations are suggested. Parking was free on Saturday but unlikely on weekdays. The ladies room was clean. All things considered, I would definitely return. Thank you!"
"✨ A Perfect End to Our Rhode Island Vacation! ✨ We wrapped up our trip with a visit to a Black-owned restaurant that absolutely blew us away! From the moment we walked in, the vibe was welcoming, soulful, and full of flavor just like the food. The dishes were bursting with bold, authentic flavors and clearly made with love. Every bite was seasoned to perfection, and the portions were generous. The signature cocktails were next-level creative, strong, and beautifully presented. Whether you’re into sweet sips or something with a little kick, there’s something for everyone. The service was outstanding warm, attentive, and knowledgeable about every item on the menu. You could feel the pride in every detail, from the food to the décor to the music that had us vibing the whole time. If you’re ever in Rhode Island, do yourself a favor and check this place out. Supporting this gem of a Black-owned business was the best decision we made all trip. We left full and happy."
"This taco place was really good! The food was tasty and well-seasoned, and the menu had a nice variety. Service was good and the atmosphere was chill. A few minor improvements could make it even better, but overall a solid 4-star experience."
"I was in town for a work conference and, as always when I travel, I make it a point to support local Black-owned businesses. That’s how I ended up at The District for brunch—and I’m so glad I did! To start, I ordered the Guavamosa (champagne, elderflower, and guava juice). It was super light and refreshing—definitely one of those drinks that creeps up on you (in the best way)! Perfect for brunch vibes. For my main dish, I got the Grits with Pulled Pork. It usually comes with poached eggs, but I swapped them for eggs over medium. Let me tell you… those grits? So savory and well-seasoned—I’d come back just for a bowl of them. The pulled pork had a sweet, smoky flavor that paired beautifully with the grits, and the runny egg yolk brought everything together into one creamy, delicious bite. I sat outside, so I can’t speak much to the indoor ambiance, but the service was excellent. The staff was friendly, timely, and super attentive, which I really appreciated as a solo diner. Highly recommend for a chill brunch with bold flavors and great energy. I’ll definitely be back the next time I’m in Providence! #ImNotAFoodie #ImJustAGirlWhoLovesFood #YelpEliteSquad"
"Had a great dinner in the outdoor area at The District on a sunny Wednesday, not too busy. Cayla was our server and she was wonderful - funny, patient and attentive to our requests. The food was great, especially the Harvest Salad, the wings and Apple Crisp. I had the Godfather (portion a little small). Lots of good beer on tap! Get the cocktails and ask for bartender Jerry, who mixes your drinks with pride."
"First timer to First watch. I'd heard so much about this place, I was excited to try it. It's open and cute inside. The restroom was clean. I'm giving it 4..."
