"This place is very unique. My boss and I went there for dinner and obviously it’s inside of a church. The artwork on the ceiling and arches are the entirety of the book “The Art of War”. Very unique. The staff was extremely attentive and very warm and welcoming. To start we got the oysters and the tuna tartare. Both were pretty great. I like the oysters more than the tuna tartare. For an entrée, I got the salmon and my boss got the fried chicken. We should’ve brought a massive appetite because the serving sizes are extremely generous. Overall, the food was good. I wouldn’t say it was great, but definitely something to experience while you’re in Charleston. We only had one mild issue, but we discussed it with the waiter and he offered what help he could"

"From the moment you step inside, this restaurant makes an impression. The space is striking and full of character—it was formerly a church, and the architecture has been beautifully preserved. The artwork on the ceiling alone is worth admiring. We began the evening at the bar with cocktails and PEI mussels, which were absolutely delicious and a perfect way to start the night. Once seated at our table, the service continued to shine. Our waitress heard it was our anniversary and took exceptional care of us throughout the meal. We started with the bacon and melon—wow. It was incredibly flavorful, and quite generous in portion size. For mains, we ordered the lamb burger and the special seafood pot pie. Both dishes were excellent, thoughtfully prepared, beautifully presented, and served at well-timed intervals. We ended the evening with the banoffee pudding dessert, which was a lovely finish. Overall, the food was outstanding—bold flavors, careful presentation, and consistently friendly, attentive service. The only drawback to an otherwise wonderful experience was feeling slightly rushed toward the end of the meal. We arrived on time for our reservation and were there for approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes, yet the dessert menu was presented before we were halfway through our entrées. A dessert spoon was placed on the table before we had ordered dessert, and the bill arrived as our dessert was served. While I understand the need for table turnover, a two-hour dining window is generally expected unless a time limit is communicated in advance at the time of reservation. That said, this is still a fantastic place, and we truly enjoyed our anniversary dinner."

"This restaurant offers a memorable experience that I’d recommend. Our server, Marco, was outstanding! The drinks were enjoyable, though a bit small. The food had great flavor, but the portions were modest and my steak lacked quality. We also tried the lamb stew—tasty, though slightly oily—but the potatoes were absolutely delicious. The ambience was exceptional, and the service was impressively fast despite the crowd, so be sure to book ahead. Overall, it was a pleasant visit, though the food didn’t quite wow me. We didn’t catch the show this time, but we have in the past and the dancers are excellent. Live music added to the vibe. Keep in mind, your visit is limited to 120 minutes, so choose your time wisely. Almost forgot, the desert was delicious. Enjoy!"

"Went to Church and Union in Charleston for dinner and it was some of the best food, service and atmosphere we've ever had From start to finish, the experience felt thoughtful, elevated, and genuinely welcoming, the kind of place that reminds you why dining out can be so special, especially considering how very reasonably priced everything was for the quality and experience. We made a reservation which was simple and quick to do When we came in the staff was very welcoming and friendly, even greeting my young daughter which most places don't That alone immediately set the tone for the evening and made us feel comfortable and appreciated as a family. The atmosphere is a wonderful experience in itself and will alone make you happy with your visit beautifully designed, warm, and lively without being overwhelming. After sitting down, our server (Jon, not to be mistaken as Jonathan or John Arthur) came over to us and greeted us warmly, gave us some recommendations and even gave recommendations based on my food allergy (gluten) That level of awareness and care made the entire meal feel stress free and enjoyable. I was pleasantly surprised that most of the menu, including the Buttermilk Cake was gluten free That is incredibly rare and made ordering exciting instead of limiting. They brought hummus muhammara dip with cucumbers to the table before our order and it was sweet and tasty A nice change from bread and butter, and such a thoughtful touch that set the stage for what was to come. We ordered off the 3 course menu for $50, which was extremely reasonable for the portion sizes, quality, and overall experience, and were blown away by both the value and execution. We got the lettuce wraps, the Jamaican skewer, the salmon, the steak and the buttermilk cake and raspberry sorbet All of these items were gluten free and absolutely delicious Every dish was beautifully plated, perfectly cooked, and packed with flavor. One of our favorites was the lettuce wraps, but everything was delicious Overall, Church and Union delivered an exceptional dining experience incredible food, attentive and knowledgeable service, and an atmosphere that makes you want to stay longer than planned. It is a place we will absolutely return to and enthusiastically recommend to anyone visiting Charleston, especially those with dietary restrictions who still want an outstanding, reasonably priced meal."

"My husband and I loved our brunch at Church and Union Charleston. First we had some delicious scones, they were very good. Then my husband had a delicious chicken sandwich with hot honey and fried potatoes. I had a mushroom omelet and fried potatoes and toast. My fresh squeezed orange juice was so good, as was everything we ate. It's a really beautiful place. Shylir was a great waitress and took great care of us. We appreciate the kindness, thank you"
