What People Are Saying
from Google"First time here, was apparently a slow day as we were able to walk in and get seated immediately, which was great. The staff, and our server in particular, were amazing. Super knowledgeable and helpful. The pimento cheese balls for an appetizer were absolutely delicious. The Bloody Marys were very good, and the complimentary biscuits were heavenly with the fresh whipped butter. The shrimp and grits were not quite as good as we expected given all of the hype around them. They were good, but not amazing. The biscuits and gravy with eggs were also good, but nothing super special, and honestly I feel like had too many different flavors going on for what should be a simple traditional dish. Overall we had a good experience and would recommend it, with tempered expectations."
"We had a lovely evening at Poogan’s Porch. Our server Jenna was so friendly and helpful at suggesting some dishes we should try. The fried chicken was some of the best I’ve had, very tender on the inside, crispy on the outside with a nice detail of seasoning. We loved the peach cobbler as well, such a well done dessert. The restaurant environment itself was very relaxing and enjoyable with so much southern charm ❤️. I would come back here in a heartbeat."
"Beautiful restaurant with a great brunch menu as well as spooky history. We had a few starters to share and then several brunch items. All were delicious and southern. Fried green tomatoes, great, simple preparation done well is always a hit. Pimento cheese fritters were rich and yummy but very heavy, sharing is a good option for this item. Grits were cooked and seasoned well which for me is a real plus because so often I think they are under seasoned. Biscuits as good as they get, light and flaky. I think these were delicious. Unfortunately we were with a really large group so I didn’t get many photos. Are there other restaurants that serve food just as good, Im sure there are, but for me I enjoyed the entire experience of this restaurant. Note, bloody Mary’s are very spicy, if you like spice, which I do I would, definitely order. Also mimosa carafe is a nice option and the mimosas were very light in color, meaning the ratio of juice to champagne was great. Will definitely return."
"Visiting Charleston and had to try the shrimp & grits and she crab soup! It was top notch with my egg on the side and smoked country ham. Pretty atmosphere, and Dylan gave me very friendly service 🙂 My server recommended pimento cheese on my shrimp and grits, so good! The biscuits & butter that hits the table as soon as you sit down was an added bonus."
"REALLY wanted to leave 5 stars. We went right at opening. Our server Jasmine was so kind and explained everything since it was our first time. Then it started getting busy... Found out she had a "shpeel" same thing to everyone, no biggie. We ordered fried green tomatoes, they were out of the sauce that comes with it, no biggie asked for ranch instead. Never did get the ranch.... She walked by 3 times asking if we got it yet but never went to get it! But they were so absolutely amazing!!!!! All our food was! Then the heater/ac unit above our table started spitting out black mold.... We were done eating, so again no biggie but wanted them to know. The manager gave us 25% off our bill, which is the only reason I give service 2 stars."
