What People Are Saying
from Google & Yelp"I heard this place just recently opened, and since it was Restaurant Week I decided to check it out, it did not disappoint! I went for the three-course meal from the Restaurant Week menu for just $33. The firecracker shrimp was delicious, though a little heavy on the aioli; thankfully, the olive oil helped balance it out. For the main course, I had the Yard chicken, served with mashed potatoes, spinach, and garlic aioli, and it was full of flavor. To finish, I had the NY cheesecake, and as a New Yorker, I have to say, it really lived up to the hype! It was perfectly smooth, not too dense, and the raspberry jam added a nice touch. Overall, it was a fantastic meal, and I’m definitely coming back to try more dishes!"
"I had the Greek gyro and it was outstanding—perfectly seasoned, fresh, and incredibly flavorful. The seasoned fries were truly mouth-watering and cooked to perfection with just the right amount of crisp. On top of the food, the ambience really stood out. The indoor space was inviting and comfortable, and the heated outdoor seating made for a lovely dining experience as well. We will definitely be back!"
"Came for restaurant week but will be back. Food was amazing! Best potato soup, especially soaked up with some bread. Chicken was juicy, proscuttio was crisped to perfection. Firecracker shrimp was delicious. Our server Chad was serving several tables at the same time but maintained such a calm demeanor. Very smooth, and had a great personality. Also the restaurant itself was beautiful. Loved the chairs. Also enjoyed watching the open kitchen."
"My wife and I enjoyed a fantastic meal with her mother at Roost Friday evening. She is both gluten free and dairy free and our waiter was very patient and accommodating for us. Best of all the food was absolutely delicious! We were a little underwhelmed by the recent renovations, but we will be back!"
"Disappointed by the new menu—there is better quality on Main Street for less. I’ve been a Greenville resident for years and have visited Roost many times, but this was my first time going with the new menu. My wife and I stopped in for a quick lunch. I ordered the Smashburger ($15) and she went with the Harvest Table Buffet ($17). Our food total came to $32.00 before tax and tip. While the price itself isn't the dealbreaker, the quality you receive for that price is where Roost seems to be out-of-touch, especially when you compare it to what else is available in downtown Greenville. To put it in perspective: For actually $2 less ($30), we could have had Halls Chophouse for lunch. Instead of a standard hotel smashburger, For $18 at Halls you get a Prime beef burger served with parmesan-truffle fries. Instead of the self-serve "Harvest Table" buffet (which just a hotel breakfast bar repurposed for lunch), my wife could have had a Wedge or Simple Greens salad ($12) or the Halls Prime Steak Martini ($18) which is filet mignon beef tips over whipped potatoes. And that's just one example. Ruth's and BrickTop's are two other higher tier options that are a better value. How does Roost justify this? We paid more for a self-serve salad bar, lukewarm flatbread, and a standard burger than we would have paid for white-tablecloth service, filet mignon, and prime beef just a few blocks away. Roost has a nice location, but the food quality on this new menu simply does not merit the price tag anymore. Locals know better options are just a short walk away. I will say this though: MAJOR shout-out to Grady, our server. This guy was top-notch and had an AMAZING attitude. One of the best servers we've had in Downtown Greenville! Super-capable, and a great personality!"
