What People Are Saying
from Google"We came just as a big freeze that shut down a lot of the state was starting to thaw. So it wasn’t busy. So we missed the street performers - too cold. Traffic was busy getting to Beale Street because there was a grizzlies game 2 blocks over. We tried a couple of the blues joints and BB King’s was easily our favorite! The food was phenomenal and the live entertainment was better than the food!!"
"Everyone we met was very kind, and very welcoming. Downtown just did t feel the same jazzy vibe I had remembered from past visits (precovid). We were here on a Saturday, and I was surprised at how few people were downtown. Felt safe, and streets were very clean. Parking was quite $ steep. However lots avail so I can't complain too much. Hope more people will come and get back that fun, jazzy vibe again."
"Visiting Beale Street Entertainment District was an unforgettable experience that perfectly captures the spirit of Memphis! This iconic stretch of around three blocks is packed with live music venues, restaurants, bars, museums, and shops, all within easy walking distance. The energy here is non-stop! Whether you come during the day or late at night, there’s always something happening. One of the most incredible things about Beale Street is the music. No matter your taste whether its blues, rock 'n' roll, R&B, or jazz, you’ll find it here. It’s truly a 24/7 celebration with music pouring out of open doors and street performers adding to the excitement. I also want to note how safe and welcoming it felt. Even with some of the recent news stories you might hear about Memphis, I felt completely at ease exploring both day and night. The area is well-patrolled, well-lit, and filled with friendly locals and fellow travelers. The people I met were some of the friendliest I’ve ever encountered while traveling, always ready to strike up a conversation! The atmosphere is electric yet laid-back making for a perfect balance. The neon lights, music and the historic charm of the street create a vibe that’s truly one of a kind.. Beale Street a must-see for anyone wanting to feel the heart and soul of Memphis!"
"It was interesting to go there and have a early evening dinner.. it’s just interesting to see it, have a taste of it. Beale street was not crowded by the end of the afternoon, still it’s a street where you should be careful, I didn’t have any issues there but I felt that I had to be careful."
"Fun to take a walk down Beale Street. Very commercial but has a nice atmosphere if street musicians are around. Had food and beer at Silky O'Sullivans. Pleasent staff. It would not be my "go to" for entertainment but people (mostly younger) were having a good time. If in Memphis - check it out in the evening if only for the walk down the street and to people watch."
