What People Are Saying
from Google & Yelp"I highly recommend to not come to this place. There is No cheese in this Kolache at all. The workers say it’s in the meat and clearly it’s not even after I showed them. Workers were rude with attitude and didn’t bother serving me a new one. Go to a local restaurant folks 👍"
"Used to rave about the place.. not sure if it changed ownership or what happened but the last 3 times there got day old stale stuff.. quality control is gone.. had stale colache, stale donuts.. no better than gas station stuff now.. back to Dunkin’… try to support small local businesses but at the cost of just throwing the stuff away and going across st to McDonald’s.. might as well just skip Shirley’s ..such a shame… used to be a real treat to grab a kolache and a donut.. now a sausage McMuffin beats them hands down…"
"Went to pick up donuts for my family and while we were trying to decide what donut we wanted one of the employees was frustrated because we were taking too long apparently. After grabbing our order we added on two more kolaches and she rolled her eyes and walked off. I loved coming here but that lady ruined it enough for me to NEVER eat at this location with her rude attitude."
"Horrible. The cashier lady was rude; there’s a ton of grounds in my coffee at 7:30AM. She kept getting the kolache/breakfast sandwich order wrong- so when she would repeat the wrong thing I attempted to correct her, then my partner attempted to also communicate she had the wrong item after I walked away to put cream into the coffee. We *hoped* she knew better than us and pulled the correct item from what the labels on the drawers said - but no. In the shop my partner took a bite and it was the wrong thing. However, when I voiced it out loud and made eye contact with the lady, was ignored. - I will say that there were other customers, but after spending $25+ on food and 1 coffee, it’s rude. When I ate my Kolache in the car, there was no cheese or jalapeño, just sausage. The cake donut was overcooked and greasy (which I do like a little more crunch , but I don’t think this was done on purpose). My other donut tasted like it was from the day prior, but the icing was fresh - not a typical Shipleys recipe (I worked at a Shipleys throughout High School and spent many mornings helping the bakers). I’m bummed and miffed enough I’d like to go back and return the other half dozen and untouched cup of liquid grounds we purchased and request a refund. However, I’m just writing this post, getting a new coffee elsewhere and gonna go about my day. Give your money to other places in town - donuts on Baldwin are always amazing, and the owner is the nicest lady in town. Cc donuts also would be recommended better, and Gates. Shipleys on SS and the one off Staples and Kostoryz(not fixing the spelling, iykyk."
"First time buying donuts from here and the last. I asked for a fall favorites dozen and they didn’t have it. So she suggested an assorted dozen. I said perfect can you make sure there is a maple and a chocolate donut Adleast in the box because that’s what my kids really want. She treated me like my one question was an absolute annoyance and said “YES! $14.88!” Cutting me off and was so rude. Slammed the window shut. I’ve never been treated like that before by an employee anywhere. I will never support this company after that interaction if this is the people they allow to work and treat their PAYING CUSTOMERS. THE REASON WHY THEY HAVE A BUSINESS. My husband is the only reason why we didn’t turn around to demand a refund. All of this because I asked to see if the assorted came with Adleast a chocolate and a maple. Absolutely ridiculous."
"They need to start making them fresh and not sell them days old. The food here is gross. Hard kolaches. I don't like writing bad reviews :( ppl are great..."
