What People Are Saying
from Google"I visited this church a couple of weeks ago with a friend. It was a small church, which is what I was looking for. But when it came time for greeting one another, which they set aside 5 minutes for, the guy in front of us never even acknowledged our presence. In addition, no one else really did. I had to find someone to greet me as a new person. Thankfully, there was a young woman that sat to our left... she was a teacher and we reached out to speak to her. After the service was over, my friend and I lingered for a while, and again, no one spoke to us. I felt so unwelcome at this church. I was expecting something different. I was searching for a new church home where I would be known and seen. But unfortunately, this was not the place. In addition, when reading from the Bible, the pronouns were changed from what the Message translation said. I understand that in recent years, we have used different pronouns as it relates to gender. However, God's Word is authoritative. We should not change what Scripture says. If the person who was preaching did not like The Message translation usage of the pronoun "He" for God, maybe find another translation that fits what you're comfortable with saying, rather than changing up what Scripture says. All in all, I wish my family in Christ much love and also encourage them to greet those they do not know who enter their church. You never know what someone is going thru or searching for."
"This "church" claims they are: "Not a church in a community, but a church for a community," and this couldn't be further from the truth. I live across the street from this establishment and on multiple occasions, they will host outdoor services and concerts in their parking lot without regard for their neighbors. They do not acquire the proper permits to be exempt from the blatant noise violations their pitchy (at best) worship entails and on more than one occasion when trying to speak with them about how they disturb the neighborhood, they have responded without a single ounce of sympathy or care. They definitely do not embody the faith they claim to profess unless you are part of their congregation....which is also filled with people who are NOT part of the Deep Ellum community, but drive in from other locations and neighborhoods. They are very much NOT a church for the Deep Ellum community."
"A church that embraces sin and announces it with pride is something to be wary of. I rebuke the progressive narrative they tend to preach, for they go against the holy scriptures. Either follow the cross or follow the crowd. You're either with the world or with the Lord. If you truly want to know Christ and grow in your relationship with him, come to City Church International."
