What People Are Saying

from Google & Yelp

"Steve had great customer service however the food was not good at all. We ordered a patty cake melt that was supposed to be medium well done and we ordered the pot roast hash. The pot roast hash had no gravy no seasoning would not recommend. The patty has milk was very dry. No seasoning on the burger would not recommend. They do provide bread service which comes with biscuits and cornbread. The biscuits were OK. I would not visit this establishment again. The food was not good at all."

"Let me start off by saying the food is passing, especially for breakfast. It was pretty slammed for Sunday brunch hour and they sat us fairly quickly so that was a plus. The food needs some spice. I would recommend some flavoring in the breading on the chicken and waffles and definitely the breakfast potatoes. The biscuits needs some love. Condiments are a must to spruce up your food. I see they have a loyal following and don't get me wrong it wasn't bad, it was just wasn't the local diner taste I thought I was going to get. The bacon was good. The breakfast sausage could be better. Next time , I'll try the lunch options. If I'm ever in oak lawn again, I'll definitely give Lucky's another try."

"Not worth it! We wanted to order a steak and scrambled cheese eggs breakfast, however it wasn’t on their menu. Our server Elvia informed us we could order the All American breakfast ($14.99) with the option to substitute the choice of bacon/sausage that comes with the All American with our choice of either chopped steak or sirloin. We chose the sirloin cooked medium, mind you there was no mention there would be a hefty up charge for substituting the sausage or bacon for steak. When the food arrived, it was cold, bland, with the eggs lacking any basic seasoning. The steak must’ve been the lowest quality sirloin available on the market because it was extremely tough and chewy. It did appear to be cooked medium, but that’s the only positive thing I can say about it. Similar to the eggs, it was bland and flavorless. The bill was $90 with tax and tip for this disappointing breakfast for two (with 2 orange juices and one coffee). That included a $24 surcharge for the two rubbery steaks. We would’ve been better off staying back at the Hilton for their amazing all you can eat continental breakfast for $30/each, but instead we wanted to see what all the hype was about over at Lucky’s. An unlucky lesson learned. Absolutely ridiculous, never again!"

"When I first moved to Dallas the hype was "you gotta go to Lucky's!" ... And, finally I visited. Their Sunday brunch is a huge hit in Dallas so prepare to wait maybe 15-20 min for a table during peak busy times. Everyone waiting for a table was extremely considerate and polite. The food was worth the hype! I ordered their All American breakfast (Eggs, Bacon, Grits, and Toast) cooked to order, fresh off the grill. Our waiter was very cordial and checked in with us frequently. You'll admire Lucky's classic diner ambience, their great food, and being amongst wonderful people. I'll be back for dinner, I can't wait! 💯"

"Honest Review ✍🏽✨ We visited Lucky’s cafe for a birthday brunch 🎉 and were excited to celebrate, but the experience at the host stand really fell short. The woman taking names seemed irritated and popped up without a greeting, which created confusion for our group. It also wasn’t clear she worked there since she didn’t have a Lucky’s shirt, apron, or any kind of identifiable uniform 👕that would help a lot. When we tried to give the birthday name, we were told we needed to provide a “two-syllable name,” which felt unnecessary and dismissive. A clear guest list system or a more organized check-in process would make a huge difference, especially on busy Sundays 📋. The restaurant itself looked great, and we were looking forward to it, but because of the tone and confusion at the door, we ultimately chose to leave 🚶🏽‍♀️🚶🏽‍♀️. Suggestion: Consider offering a small birthday perk, like a complimentary pastry or gift card 🎁to truly elevate the guest experience and match the warm reputation Lucky’s cafe is known for. Sharing this feedback in hopes the hosting experience can reflect the same quality as the food and atmosphere inside. ✨ ⸻"
