What People Are Saying
from Google"If you love matcha, The Brown Thumb is an absolute must see in Denton. Even when I’m in a hurry, the moment I walk in everything feels calm. The atmosphere is peaceful, the people are genuinely kind, and I always enjoy my visit. Whether you want to browse plants, relax for a minute, or grab a drink to go, it’s such a great spot. Their matcha menu is very diverse, and the staff is happy to help whether you’re new to matcha or already love it. Even my husband, who doesn’t usually like matcha, loves their matcha lemonade. That says a lot!! Great vibes, great drinks, and a place I keep coming back to."
"My best friend and I took an impromptu stroll to this spot for some matcha and a little downtime together, and we were so delighted by what we found. The space features an adorable plant shop paired with a cozy matcha setup—such a charming combination. While a few hard-to-reach areas could use a deeper clean, the service more than made up for it. Every employee greeted us warmly, including the owner herself, and the hospitality felt genuinely personal despite the steady flow of customers. I was especially impressed by the quality and variety of plants available. Shops like this often carry just a handful of options, but not here! Their weekly restocked inventory offered such a great selection that we had a hard time choosing which plants to take home. Monica is an absolute sweetheart. Her bright smile, authenticity, and extensive knowledge of both plants and matcha made the experience even lovelier. And the drinks? Fantastic. Even with a stable crowd, our order took no more than 15 minutes, and honestly—if you ever have to wait longer, it’s absolutely worth it."
"This is one of my favorite places for matcha, plants, and activities/events🪴🍵💕 I've had dates here, girls day outings, and even my birthday. The Cookie Butter matcha is my FAVORITE drink, the Japanese (curled) pathos is my favorite plant buy, and the terrarium building event was my favorite activity so far! Glad we discovered this place earlier this summer. It's about an hour away (40 mins if you don't mind the hwy), but so worth the road trip lol"
"As soon as I saw the name of the store in the window I went “omg a Black owned plant shop.” I was walking up and down the square looking for a job and I had to stop what I was doing because the place just made sense. I went in and felt immediately welcome. Being in the shop brought out a light in me that I hadn’t seen in a long time. I’m so happy every time I go there. I have been told more than once to stop buying plants but I can’t help the collection I’ve built (almost solely from plants purchased there) that includes concrete pots made by hand and merch from local vendors. Plus, as someone who can’t really say they’re a matcha fan, I am a FIEND for the Golden Maple Drip (salted maple matcha)."
"This place is super cute and cozy the perfect little spot for a chill morning. I went on a Saturday morning and ordered the Butter Begonia matcha. The flavor was really good, but I will say it was pretty busy and we had to wait about 30 minutes for our drinks. It seems like they make a large batch of drinks at once so everyone gets theirs at the same time, and by the time we received ours it was a bit watered down. Overall, still a nice experience and I’d definitely give it another try, maybe on a less busy day."
