What People Are Saying
from Google & Yelp"This WOULD be a 5 star… I genuinely love this place. The kavatenders, the regulars, and the overall vibe have created something really special — it feels like a true community space. I’ve been sober for three years now, and this has been a place of comfort, grounding, and connection for me during some really hard seasons. It’s more than just beverages to a lot of us, it’s a place of solitude, healing, and belonging. That said, I feel compelled to be honest about one thing: when management is present, the energy shifts in a way that doesn’t feel respectful or aligned with the warmth this space is known for. There’s a noticeable difference in how safe, relaxed, and welcomed people feel, and it’s unfortunate because it takes away from what could otherwise be such a supportive environment. The way management has interacted with me, other customers, and even the staff has been deeply discouraging at times and doesn’t align with the welcoming, respectful values this space represents. I’m sharing this because I care about this place and want to see it thrive. The staff and community deserve leadership that matches the heart of what they’ve built here. I truly hope some changes or conversations happen, because this space means a lot to many people (myself included) and it has the potential to be even better."
"My favorite place to relax, laugh and enjoy the variety of teas it offers. I love everything starting with the staff all the way to the people who go to this non-alcoholic bar. Who needs alcohol when you got Kava? P.S. Adan (the kava-tender) makes great creations!"
"The kava bar is my go to spot to just chill and enjoy some good vibes while enjoying some kava or kratom. Great service and attitudes. Me and my fiancee love going here."
"Underrated spot in Denton for sober people- however, like another reviewer stated, the "no loitering" rule is absolutely ridiculous. I've spent a lot of time and money here, and getting told I need to order or else I have to leave is quite simply a joke. It's also randomly enforced, I've seen several people here come in without ordering (along with myself) and weren't told to leave, so what's the point if you guys just pick and choose who to kick out. Make it make sense people. I really hope you guys drop this rule, no other drinking establishment in the area would think to enforce this. Anyways shout out to the kavatenders who have to embarrass themselves by enforcing these rules, you guys are great and very welcoming (unlike management)."
"This was my favorite spot in Denton for over a year. I've brought my co workers, friends, and dates in to try the magnificent Kava. I even bought into the growler program bc I found so many wonderful benefits with Kava use. However, due to the adoption of an "Order or Leave" policy they are enforcing, I will no longer support their business. Denton is a college town. The square and fry street promote congregation. I support fair and equal congregation. It is not fair or equal the way the miniature signs with fine print are placed inside. Because, not everyone can read them. So, when you are asked to order or leave...it then becomes offensive after being inside less than 15 to 20 minutes . Support businesses that reflect the true homage of Denton as a college town where people can congregate without discrimination."
"I love the kava bar! Amazing community, fun weekly events, chill relaxed environment, dog friendly, I love all the kava tenders!"
