What People Are Saying
from Google"my husband and I love nickel city! mars, cas, and grant are our favorite bartenders and always make the best drinks! It does get a little packed on the holidays because they do pop ups and go all out on the decorations but it is definitely worth a visit just get there early! There is 18% gratuity included during the holidays but I’ve seen these bartenders deal with so much that they deserve more than 18%. Pictured is their koala falala and their current Christmas menu!"
"Del Rey Cafe is exceptional. Tucked behind Nickel City, this food truck is easily serving some of the best bar food I’ve had anywhere. I’ve tried the sliders, the cheese curds, and the wings—and every single one has been 5-star-plus. The sliders are perfectly cooked and packed with flavor, the cheese curds are crispy on the outside and gooey on the inside, and the wings are outstanding—well-seasoned, juicy, and done right. This isn’t just “good for bar food”—it’s legitimately great food, period. If you’re at Nickel City and don’t grab something from Del Rey Cafe, you’re missing out. Highly recommend."
"Well I have mixed feelings about this place. Met a friend there to experience a Christmas vibe. It was very crowded, although 3/4 of the tables had reserved signs on them. There was no room at the bar and people were standing. We finally managed to get two seats at the bar and I continued to observe all the tables that were empty with reserved signs on them. I asked one of the staff members why they just don't let people sit at the reserve tables and let them know that the tables are reserved and they would be able to stay until the reserve party showed up. Apparently that's not how they do things there. I also observed people coming in looking around not able to find anywhere to sit and leaving. I definitely feel like this is not a very good business model. Also I'm a little put off about all the strange signs about not stealing and having your bags checked when you leave. I guess people apparently take the novelty glassware with them without paying, since you are actually able to purchase the glassware. We managed to skirt the "cavity search" by the bouncer when we left, because he was on the other side of the bar. I promise I didn't steal anything."
"I love the location back home in Austin, but this one is great too. Liz and Connor were sweethearts, very personable customer service that felt like visiting old friends. Awesome happy hour. Perfect options for bar food, and beautifully made drinks. This visit, I had cocktails, but normally I like to have straight whiskey. They have literally a zillion whiskey options, can’t recommend this place enough."
"Nickel City is hands down one of my favorite bars in the city. The vibe is always fun and the drinks are consistently top notch. What really sets this place apart though is the staff. Eddie and Kat made the experience unforgettable. They’re the kind of bartenders who make you feel like a regular the moment you sit down. Super friendly, attentive, and they really know their stuff when it comes to cocktails. Whether you’re grabbing a casual drink or staying for the night, you’ll be in good hands with them. Can’t recommend this spot enough!"
