What People Are Saying
from Google"Everything was delicious! We ordered at the kiosk, Sat down at our clean tables, and we were served promptly. Decor is cute!! The music was a bit loud for only four people in the restaurant (at 2:00 p.m.) but if it was busier it would have been fine. We would definitely come here again!"
"The menu has a variety of items. Many options of appetizers, sides, grilled items, Bento boxes boxes, ramen, udon and alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages. It is self service. This self ordering interface was easy to use. I knew what I was ordering and it included pictures. It was more convenient and than trying to remember what I wanted and explain that to a server, but a friendly server was available if I needed anything else. Service was great and quick. What I was most impressed with was the reasonable prices. I was able to try dango for the first time for only $2. We were excited about having dango. Tasted very good, almost like mochi consistency kinda sweet. They bring a glass bottle of water to the table. We ordered many items because we wanted to try several different options. I had lychee tea that was delicious !its topped with fresh lychee. The aji tempura (3 pieces of mackerel) it was my favorite. The tempura crispness and texture was perfect and the seasoning was great. We also ordered chicken karaage, yakitori wings, grilled chicken skewers, beef udon and grilled squid. I also enjoyed the different sauces that came with the food. The presentation is flawless. The restaurant offers an incredible dinning experience from start to finish. The atmosphere is welcoming and I loved the modern decor. We were overall impressed and happy to have this new restaurant in town."
"Came here on a Friday night to find plenty of seating and a welcoming staff. The restaurant is beautiful, with fun and colorful decor. You order on a screen near the door, and while I did wish there were more options, it all looked fantastic. The ramen was excellent, as were the appetizers. Parking is rough, but they validate. Definitely worth it!"
"Ramen soup flavor was on point and the pork belly was both tender and crispy. Find myself a quiet district with good ramen."
"Other reviews mention this place’s ramen. We didn’t order it, so this is for other items. A friend took us there for an afternoon snack. I was initially very impressed by the place’s aesthetics and elegance, but that feeling was unfortunately deflated and eventually replaced with a rather “meh” feeling at the end. Putting aside the attitude (a bit atypical-Japanese ‘prima donna’ vibe), I will rate it fairly as a Japanese restaurant - roughly to the standard of other mid-level Japanese eateries. We ordered both tapas-style dishes - many little plates as samplers - as well as larger entrées. Overall, it is OK, but not in the upper tier, from the ingredient quality to preparation. Price is not an issue, as my friend said, it is bistro-priced, not like the typical pricier Japanese restaurants. That is true, and if one just wants casual Japanese food – like what can be found in a konbini or at a mom-and-pop food stall in Japan, it is fine. But this is not for those seeking a more refined Japanese cuisine experience. Perhaps we had a bit high expectations initially, based on the décor and the name, ‘Umami,’ which amuses some in our group for the factoid that it was coined over a century ago by the father of MSG :) and is an English word (like tsunami). Maybe the ramen has good a ‘umami’ taste, but other dishes weren't special."
