What People Are Saying
from Google & Yelp"My wife and I are often in the mood for coffee later in the evening, but the challenge is finding places that are open after 7pm. Most coffee shops have closed by that time, and we are often forced to search for a place to get our fix. A recent Saturday evening search led us to a chain establishment that turned out to be quite good. It’s Slowpokes, a place for coffee and more. Slowpokes has most every feature we like in a coffee shop. Starting with the fact that this location is open until 9pm on Saturday, we also like the wide assortment of food, which even includes all- day breakfast. When we visited, I wasn’t even thinking about breakfast food because so few coffee shops offer breakfast on Saturday night. But Slowpokes offers breakfast, and my wife and I both ordered breakfast food, which matched up quite nicely with our coffee drinks. Yes, they serve sandwiches, salads, flatbreads, and other foods, but it was really cool to get a breakfast sandwich with my coffee beverage at this late hour. The hot coffee is served at Slowpokes in a large cup, which is another plus. I enjoyed my mocha coffee, and I loved the large ceramic cup it was served in. Another plus? It wasn’t scalding hot. Some coffee shops serve the coffee so hot, you have to wait a good fifteen or twenty minutes before you can drink it. Here, the temperature is just right. Another cool quality about Slowpokes is that they even serve wine and beer! This is something you don’t see in the typical coffee shop. Most coffee shops tend to stick with coffee, tea, energy drinks, etc. But if you’re in the mood, you can get beer or wine at this establishment. There are even a few bar stools on which to sit while you imbibe, if you’re so inclined. And they even have six packs of beer and bottles of wine to go. The inside of this Slowpokes is larger than that of most coffee shops, and it looks like it can hold about fifty people. There is outdoor seating, too. The only thing they don’t have is furniture like couches/love seats for sitting. Other than that, Slowpokes checks off all the boxes for my wife and I and we are glad that we discovered this establishment."
"Once you walk in, get ready to live the name of the place: Slowpokes. What I mean by this is; give yourself a chance to slow down and enjoy the experience. From the great playlist to the warm décor, you're welcomed into a space that makes you forget you're still in the city. The employees make you feel like you're the only person that matters in that moment. The way they connect, explain the menu, offer suggestions, and engage in friendly banter is truly masterful, a very refreshing surprise in a world that moves too fast. We ordered a mix of coffees and breakfast sandwiches, all of which were tasty and unique. The chicken panini was a wonderful blend of salty and creamy mozzarella cheese , with a beautiful pesto sauce. The prosciutto fig sandwich was a perfect balance of savory and sweet. Now, the pastries one word: "Amazing" The pumpkin muffin was so good it kept inviting me back for another bite, with a light frosting that highlighted the spices perfectly. The lemon bar was also very good, though I'm a bit picky with lemon desserts since the eggy aftertaste can be hard to hide. This one does a solid job, but that slight hint is still there. The honey lavender coffee is a neatly crafted, lightly sweet drink. I recommend adding an extra espresso shot or asking for less sweetness. If you're an espresso fan, do yourself a favor and get one here. It's citric, nutty, and coats your mouth with a beautifully crafted shot. Only caveat is service once you finish your meal as there is no clear place to leave all your dishes and during my time I did not see anyone from the restaurant help pick up any dishes. Overall, definitely come here for breakfast and a great coffee. This might just become my new go-to coffee spot. This review is for the Memorial location."
"Slowpokes has become a great option for an early dinner that's not the usual fast food. When we go, we usually order a special they have with charcuterie and a bottle of wine, add some empanadas, and everything has always been excellent. The appetizer platter is nicely presented and has all kinds of flavors. I think it used to have more cheese and nuts, but we like it just the same. To our surprise, the empanadas are very tasty. I would like them to have more variety in wines, but it's fine for the special. The atmosphere is ideal, quiet and nice to enjoy with the family. I think there's a chess tournament on Fridays, so go early or with plenty of time to spare. The staff are always very friendly and attentive! We come back whenever we can!"
"A friend recommended this coffee establishment to me, and it proved to be exceptional. I visited yesterday evening, accompanied by a group of friends and we all thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The variety of offerings was impressive, and the ambiance was excellent. I would certainly recommend this venue to others. The staff provided outstanding service. During my visit, I ordered a latte, which I rate as a perfect 10 out of 10! I would gladly recommend it again."
"Falling in love with this place. Love the bagel & lox. Love the charcuterie board. But my new fav is the purple rain specialty coffee. Made with ube (a sweet yam from the Philippines) it is delicious. I don’t like my coffee very sweet, but this is lovely. It’s great hot or cold, but cold is more fun so you can see the purple!"
"Delicious smells as enter of their coffee barrister making cappuccino. Friendly staff that gets your orders out quickly. Croissants that are flaky and not..."
