"This place was great 😊 good, atmosphere, company, attached museum! Felt like Texas all around. Some of the best grits I have ever eaten! You just need to visit and experience it then head next door to the local guitar 🎸 shop and the fun shopping boutiques that surround the courthouse. You won’t regret it."

"⸻ Great traditional spot with excellent food. I ordered the chicken fried steak, and it was absolutely tremendous—perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The green beans with bacon and the mashed potatoes were also really good and rounded out the meal perfectly. The local team I was dining with loved it too; several people ordered the same dish and were equally impressed. A couple others tried the hamburger on a pretzel bun, which also went over very well. Overall, a fantastic meal and a place I’d gladly return to."

"We came here because it's the oldest café in Texas. I love cafes, unique diners, etc and this is definitely one of those! It's small, right in the heart of downtown so you can walk to the sights nearby. The service was spectacular on a Wednesday morning. The food was SO good! Generous portions especially for the prices, and these days everything is so high. It tasted fresh and homemade. I will definitely be going back when we go through town, might even make the drive just for the food!"

Breakfast here moves at an easy pace, and the chicken fried steak arrives oversized, crisp-edged, and well-seasoned without excess. The gravy is smooth and restrained, settling into the crust instead of overpowering it. Eggs come out the way you ask, toast stacked simply, and the hash browns break open soft beneath a deep brown crust. Nothing on the plate is decorative, and nothing feels rushed. Service is attentive without hovering, and the room carries the quiet confidence of a place that’s been feeding people for generations. Best for unhurried mornings when you want a filling, straightforward Texas breakfast that knows exactly what it is."

"We were in town for a girls weekend and had a great experience here. A few of us had visited under the previous owners, but this was our first time since the remodel and it did not disappoint. The service was friendly and attentive, the food was delicious and came out fast, and the kitchen manager even stopped by to check on us personally. The adjoining museum with the owner’s personal collection was an unexpected highlight…we were blown away. Learning that both the restaurant and museum are nonprofit and support charities made the experience even better. We can’t recommend this place enough and will definitely be back."
