What People Are Saying
from Google & Yelp"Where to start…first of all Janine Jones is amazing!! She is the Event Director for BW and did a phenomenal job with our event. I was the Event Coordinator in 2025 for a local HOG Chapter and was referred to Janine by a close friend. So the event I planned was a Holiday Masquerade Party for 50 people. I was able to create a red carpet entry, decorate the tables, create a candy buffet, have a magician come entertain, wear themed attire, and last but not least have a drink menu catered to the event. The staff was amazing and we did not have one single complaint! The menu options were spot on, the drinks were raved about (by the men mostly) as they ordered more than one!! I cannot give enough stars for the service and accommodations made for us!! A huge shout out to Janine and her fabulous staff!! Keep up the great work!!"
"The overall experience at Black Walnut Café was pretty cool. I really liked that there are a couple of different ways you can order, which felt unique and convenient. It made the process fun and a little different than your usual dining spot. The prices are also super affordable, which is always a plus, and I love that there are different seating areas so you can choose where you want to sit depending on your mood. Walking right in and finding a spot was easy, and I thought that part of the setup was great. Where it fell short for me was the food. I really wanted to love this place, but I found the flavors to be pretty bland and not very exciting. It was not bad, but it just didn’t stand out. Since some of my clients have been asking about more brunch spots, my husband and I tried it out to see if it might be a place I could bring people to. Unfortunately, it did not quite meet the expectation I had in mind. That said, I can absolutely see why people enjoy it. The atmosphere is relaxed, the setup is unique, and the experience itself was pleasant. For me personally, the food just wasn’t it, so I am not sure if I will be back. I truly wish it had been more flavorful because I really wanted to love this place."
"Loved everything about the experience, service & food! Tried it out for Houston Restaurant Week & it did not disappoint! The dinner is 4 courses for $39. First course - Black Walnut Salad 10/10 (loved the dressing & Gorgonzola) Second course - New Orleans BBQ Shrimp 1000/10 I looooooooved the shrimp & the sauce it came in was AMAZING!!! Would definitely get again & again Third course - Cheesy lobster pasta 7.5/10 The pasta was good & so was the lobster. The sauce caught me by surprise. It was a little on the sweeter side but still had good flavor. Fourth course - Blackout cake 100/10 No explanation needed. If you love chocolate, YES! Overall, the experience was great, the food came out SUPER fast. Literally within 5 minutes of each other. I’d definitely return & try different menu items"
"Black Walnut was great! My family and I love this place. Alexandra was awesome, she provided great service, was very patient with our family, and kept a smile on her face the entire time. The food was good, and the white mocha coffee had a delicious, sweet flavor."
"I came to eat here on 01/30/26 (The food was very yummy) I accidentally left my wallet behind. I realized about 20 minutes after I had left and rushed back, and the staff was incredibly helpful. Even though another group was already seated at our table, everyone took the time to help look for it. Thanks to their effort, my wallet was found on the floor. It meant so much to me, especially because it had my green card inside. Truly amazing service, you guys are the best!"
