from Google"Edited in 2026 to add: Neutral Ground's location downtown is now more of a lounge than a restaurant, which is honestly a huge disappointment. The atmosphere has been modernized and has no N'Awlins/voodoo-type vibe anymore. None of my favorite foods were even on the menu! No more alligator tacos, fried green tomatoes, or beignets. The minimal food selection they did have felt overpriced. It was extremely disappointing. I wouldn't go back now that it's changed so much. 2 stars given. Original post from 2024, 5 stars given: I'd heard rave reviews of the alligator tacos and as the only place in possibly the whole State who serves gator, I knew I had to come to Neutral Ground. I went with a friend who was in from out of town. We both walked in and fell in love with the atmosphere! The whole vibe is very New Orleans. It's very visually appealing. As for the food 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼 AMAZING! The blackened alligator tacos were delish! My favorite dish is a tossup between the andouille sausage flatbread pizza and the fried green tomatoes! The beignets were so good and the dipping sauces only added to the experience. Loved the berry cobbler as well. We truly didn't have a bad bite of food. Our server was next level amazing. He knew when to be attentive and when to hang back. The service was outstanding. Possibly my new favorite restaurant!"
"Great staff, delicious food, and such a cute vibe inside! Plus there’s live music! This place is great. We ordered the Cajun pasta, fried green tomatoes, and shrimp tacos. All were great. Highly recommend!"
"Neutral Ground is fast becoming one of our favorite restaurants. The menu is fantastic with a wide selection of options. Their Cajun pasta is probably one of our favorites. They're bartender knows what he's doing. Our family does not drink alcohol but we like to find custom non-alcoholic cocktails wherever we go. He came to our table and asked us what some of our favorite flavors were and what kinds of tastes we enjoy. He created a custom cocktail for each member of our family. The staff are incredibly helpful and friendly and we enjoy each visit."
"Neutral Ground is bringing the Cajun and Creole flavor to Salt Lake!! I've been dying to try them out since I heard they were opening in Rose Park! My Husband and I went in to celebrate our Anniversary, the vibes as soon as you walked in were immaculate. We sat in the Lounge, it was soo beautifully decorated and with ambient lighting you feel totally transported. Here's what we ordered •Fried Green Tomatoes •Southern Carbonara •Seafood Gumbo •Beignets The Fried Green Tomatoes were DELISH! Loved the sauces they paired with them too! The Southern Carbonara was such fantastic twist on a classic. I ate the whole thing. It was soooo good I had to finish it there. My Husband very much enjoyed the Seafood Gumbo! He commented it was very traditional and spot on. Ohhh the Beignets. Next time I'll order double, they were so divine and gone way too quickly. Welcome to the Neighborhood Neutral Ground! Can't wait to come back in for some live music next time. 👏"
"We have eaten at Neutral ground twice and the food has been spot on both times. Their fried green tomatoes are a throwback to the ones my mom and aunts made growing up. Perfectly crispy and seasoned outside, and the pepper jam is a perfect compliment! The crawfish patties are a perfect, juicy seasoned bite with an orange peel sauce that I would drink on it own if I could. Crawfish Mac and cheese is creamy and cheesy with plump bites of crawfish and a crispy top, served hot in a skillet. They cook their gumbo for 3 days before serving and you can tell with how the flavors meld together and compliment the fluffy rice. The wagyu steak Oscar was so tender I could cut it with a butter knife (and I did!) Served with Asparagus and crispy potatoes. The slow burn burger is juicy and spicy with the flavors complementing each other perfectly. The cajun carbonara even impressed our picky teenager! Don't skimp on dessert, beignets with lemon custard or a peach cobbler that literally melts in your mouth. Yes, the prices might be a little higher than most are used to, but with the cost of inflation and the fact that they are making everything from scratch- no pre packaged sauces here!"
