What People Are Saying
from Google & Yelp"We had just checked out of the little America hotel and wanted to stop by a coffee shop before our trek back to Layton for a hike. I’m from Florida and was visiting my long distance boyfriend, it was his birthday and he’s not used to exploring new coffee shops, restaurants, etc. so I had to give him that experience! Last time I was in Utah visiting him we went to Roots Coffee company (highly recommend as well!) but I saw this close by and wanted to check it out, and I’m so glad we did! It’s a European style coffee shop, no tips, tax included in your bill, but I didn’t realize that until after and had left a one dollar bill on the counter, I was so embarrassed after I saw the sign, I’m so sorry haha, when I realized it was too late, the dollar was gone. I hope that didn’t upset yall! Anyways, we had brought a cake we got for free for his birthday the night before but were too full to eat, so we ate it at the coffee shop and they were cool with it! We ordered cold brews, one with mocha flavor and one with vanilla, hands down up there with the best cold brew I’ve had! They also have matcha, cappuccinos, drip coffee, and pastries! The vibe was super nice, so many conversations and the sounds of the coffee being made and the city in the background. I loved it all. There is indoor and outdoor seating. But it was way too windy to sit outside that day haha. Such a wonderful little coffee shop and everyone was super nice, we even had someone come up to us and compliment my boyfriends 49ers letterman jacket. “Finally someone who knows what a good team is” and fist bumped him 😂 Love interactions like that. Thank you for the wonderful experience Three Pines! You all are awesome."
"Out in Utah visiting friends and Three Pines was highly recommend for local coffee lovers—-and got an oat milk latte —very simple but smooth and flavorful. Great customer service too (Lexa was super nice ) & two thumbs up!"
"I love this place. Great location and consistently excellent coffee. The lavender chai cookies are the best! No tips and taxes are included in the menu pricing which I love! Just like I'm Germany. I don't think they serve medium or dark espresso, it's been light roast every time I've come. Additional information: No bathrooms for customers, serves pastries but not hot foods, no decaf, vegan milks available, self-serve water, indoor and outdoor seating, wheelchair accessible."
"Excellent coffee and service! Three pines coffee offers a cozy atmosphere, ideal for someone to get work done or have a nice chat. Although, if you plan to work on anything online, be prepared with a gotspot, three pines doesn't provide wifi, in order to promote a social environment."
"Three Pines Coffee is a competent downtown coffee shop that benefits more from reputation and aesthetics than from standout quality, and in my view, the coffee itself is highly overrated. The space is clean, comfortable, and visually appealing. It works well as a place to sit, work, or meet someone, and the overall atmosphere is calm and modern. From a purely environmental standpoint, it checks the right boxes for a downtown café. Where the experience falls apart is in the coffee. While drinks are prepared correctly and are perfectly drinkable, they lack depth, distinction, or memorable character. Flavor profiles stay firmly in the safe zone, and nothing stands out as exceptional or worth seeking out. For a shop that carries a strong reputation, the gap between expectations and reality is noticeable. The quality does not match the hype. Food and pastry options are similarly serviceable but forgettable. They function as accompaniments rather than highlights and do little to elevate the visit. Service is friendly and efficient, but interaction is minimal and does not compensate for the lack of standout product quality. Nothing is particularly wrong here, but nothing rises above average either. Overall, Three Pines Coffee is fine if you are already nearby and want a comfortable place to sit with a cup of coffee. However, it does not justify its reputation, and for anyone actively seeking excellent coffee, it is likely to disappoint. A locally acceptable stop, but one whose quality is overstated relative to its standing."
