from Google"phenomenal. i got a s’mores cupcake (left) and my friend got a triple belgium chocolate. the atmosphere is charmingly pink and the cupcakes are perfectly light and sweet. love it!"
"This place doesn’t look like much from the outside. Its unassuming, simple exterior hides a deep secret: the DC’s area’s best cupcakes. Inside you won’t find a sleek polished interior that screams “These cupcakes will blow your mind.” Instead, you’ll find a couple of generous, kind women with trays and trays of varied, large, soft, well made cupcakes that rival any other big name cupcake shop inside the beltway. I’ve come here a dozen times in the last year and I’ve never been disappointed or let down by any of the rotating flavors they sell. The prices are fair, the packaging is clean and simple, and the product itself is impecable. If you’re in the area, don’t miss this place. It’s worth every penny. Thanks for the great treats!"
"We came specifically for Red Velvet Cupcake and theirs is NOT Red Velvet! The taste is more like chocolate. See photos. The lady behind the counter said they do not use food coloring and that's why it's not red -- I get that -- but the overall taste of the cupcake including the frosting is not true Red Velvet. (By the way, with regards to food coloring, they had strawberry cupcakes with Pink frosting which clearly had coloring). If you're going to call it Red Velvet, make it Red Velvet! Overall, disappointing. ADDITION: The owner responded to my review defensively, stating that "Red Velvet is chocolate" to which Red Velvet masters would disagree. At the very least, the store needs to put a CLEAR description so customers know up front. It was only AFTER I brought it to their attention that they explained their version. There was ZERO attempt to rectify or offer alternative to my disappointment. They showed NO desire to offer a positive customer experience. Defensive and UNcaring."
"Lavender Moon has been my go-to spot for cupcakes since 2013. There’s something about their cupcakes that are so different that it makes you want to keep returning. Maybe it’s the texture of the cupcake or maybe the unique flavors they offer, but one thing I do know for sure is that they use very good ingredients. You can literally taste the difference. They have a few staple flavors like vanilla bean with lemon curd that you can never go wrong with. However, I always try something unique like pistachio cherry or chocolate bourbon. Sure, I like some flavors better than other but I’ve never had a cupcake I could complain about from them. I would consider this place a boutique cupcake place since their flavors as well their interior design is unique and quite whimsical. The staff are nice but I think they may be nicer to regulars than new customers from my observation and input from my friends when they pick up an order for me. It’s a small place so I wouldn’t suggest bringing a large group here unless it is for take-out. Cupcakes are a priced fairly but definitely way more expensive than the ones you buy premade at the grocery store… but you’re paying for high quality ingredients and the taste is 100 times better. I can’t ever complain about their prices because it is simply worth it."
"The cupcakes here are delicious, but unfortunately the business hours are very inconsistent. The shop seems to open and close at will, and there’s no communication on social media when hours change. It’s disappointing because the cupcakes are great, but the lack of reliability makes it hard to support the business as a customer. Update to respond to owner: Thank you for the response. I completely understand weather-related closures and appreciate the explanation. That said, the concern I raised isn’t limited to this recent event. If you look through prior reviews, several customers have shared similar experiences with inconsistent hours and no communication. Clear, proactive updates when hours change would go a long way in helping customers plan visits and continue to support the business. I’d encourage taking a closer look at that pattern and considering how customer feedback can be used to make meaningful improvements."
