What People Are Saying
from Google"I absolutely adore this cafe! I’ve been back multiple times (pictured) even though I have to drive over 40 mins to get here. It’s great to support a Viet-owned and operated business! Please note that my review of drinks is across multiple visits, so some of their seasonals might not be offered anymore. Atmosphere for studying - depends on the day! I’ve been on days where it’s not very crowded at all, lots of open seats and outlets, and quiet enough go to where I can get a lot of work done comfortably. Other days it is packed! I think they recently went viral on Instagram for their matcha flights (I haven’t tried them yet, but they look like almost 4 full sized matcha lattes, so I will definitely bring some friends to try it next time). That means that weekends might be very busy with all the tables full. There was one time we went and were able to snag a table but the music was atrociously loud and kept repeating the same song for an hour, so I would say that atmosphere depends on the day and who’s on aux. Drinks are great! I personally don’t drink coffee, but my “black coffee only” friend says their coconut coffee is strong, dark, and creamy (as all Vietnamese coffee should be!). What I tried of it was very delicious (not quite comparable to the blended coconut coffee in Vietnam, but close enough for the DMV!). She also thought their iced Americano was very standard. We also tried the hot peppermint chocolate latte, but note that adjusting the sugar makes it much less flavorful. That said, as a non-coffee person, it’s so hard to come by a cafe where their non-coffee drinks are just as good and plentiful as their coffee! We love their ube sea salt foam latte (as pictured). Their hojicha latte is nice and roasted, and I love that you can get plenty of drinks hot or iced for the weather. Their Thai tea sea salt foam was a little too sweet, as was their pandan sea salt foam. I think I’d stick with the ube! I love that they have seasonal drinks that spans both coffee and non-coffee options! Prices I would say tend to run a little higher for a cafe (expect to pay between $7-9), but considering their default size seems to be a 16oz, it’s not too bad. Decent parking lot that tends to get crowded on weekends. Despite a lot of back and forth about the pros and cons of this shop, their ube sea salt foam on its own is definitely worth making the drive (for me), and I would love to make it through their entire menu eventually. Will definitely be coming back!"
"Getting a matcha flight at Drip Ca Phe is quite the experience! I enjoyed every matcha option included in the flight - very tough to pick a favorite out of the group. The flight is definitely enough to share; I ended up mixing my leftovers in a to-go cup since I was enjoying it by myself. It's very loud and busy, not a good place to work even though people looked like they were trying haha. All the seats were taken, wish they had more seating! Despite other reviews, the wait time was not long at all - 5 minutes for my matcha flight to be ready. If you're a matcha lover, 100% recommend this spot for you!"
"Same here on a Sunday around 2:00 pm. It was packed but I understand why. The matcha is fun and colorful. It’s not overly sweet. Despite being loud, my friend and I found a table and we were able to sit and study found about 2 hours. They have a few milk alternatives which is great for my friend who lactose intolerant. If you want to get a flight it’s dine-in only so be prepared for that. Overall fun experience. Glad I came here."
"Absolutely love this coffee shop! The staff are super friendly and even let my dog (well-behaved) come inside. They are helpful with recommendations too. I tried the coconut matcha and the ube matcha and both were very refreshing. The vibe is warm and welcoming. Highly recommend."
"I went out of my way to check out this shop on my way home from DC to Richmond and I'm glad I did. The staff was friendly and I could tell they put a lot of care i to the food and drinks. I ordered a regular matcha flight, an Uber mochi, and a Vietnamese pastry (I forget the name). Everything was delicious. I never would have thought to put matcha with coconut water but it was delicious. My favorite was the ube matcha which was one of the best I've had. Even though it was packed, it was fairly quiet and I was able to get some work done. I wish this cafe was closer so I could visit more often."
