"First time going after I called up and asked about the sour dough loaves. I usually got Europa Crust but hate taking the 30 minute drive for a single boule so wanted to find quality bread closer to where I live. I have had gluten sensitivity which caused swollen parotid glands and a belly bloat for a few days after but don’t get this with sourdough that’s why I like it however they aren’t all made the same at bakeries. There was a steady flow of traffic in and out and folks seemed to be regular customers as they chatted with the lady at the counter. The problem is I asked for sourdough based on my needs and when I got home the loaf I got had a strong jalapeño undertone and was the “saltiest “ I’ve ever eaten. I thought that was a full and figured I’d try one more time but it was the same thing. What if I’d had an allergic reaction to the jalapeño flavor? If I ask four sour dough and get something that looks like a standard white loaf of bread which I didn’t want and called ahead to confirm I would not get, I’d be hesitant to trust the ingredients. What all is being used to make the bread because it’s obviously not just flour, water and yeast anymore which might hinder folks with food allergies that still want to enjoy bread products… I also suspect it was cooked thoroughly because it was hard on the outside but extra spongy on the inside which gave it a sort of moist taste even after four days …hard to describe but did not taste like any sourdough I’ve eaten in the past and I’ve had many different versions from different places. My belly and face were swollen after the second helping (shame on me) but I wanted to confirm it was the bread and not me…frustrated because I made a special trip and ended up with the equivalent of a store bought loaf with a flavoring I never asked for for $6…it would helpful if someone was available and knowledgeable about ingredients and the variation in the types of loaves…"

"Super cute hidden bakery, the pastries were delicious and unique! Only wish they had been warmed up! Price was also good for the portion sizes. Definitely would check it out another time. Keep in mind, there is no specialty coffee sold! Just a small station to make your own cup."

"Cute little Bakery serving incredible croissant based baked goodies!! The Earl Grey scones are so good you want to sit down and have a tea party. Everything I tried here was wonderful. The counter service lady was sweet, didn't rush you into placing your order and was prepared to answer any questions. Definitely worth the drive from DC."

"Drool worthy pastries in a wide variety of deliciousness. This is a small pick up shop with a few tables out front. The orange iced swirl was dynamite great. The fruit pastry was delicious. I have an earl grey scone tucked in my freezer which sounded very interesting. It’s nice that items are jumbo sized as you definitely want more. I’m glad I live in Charlottesville because I would be putting on some poundage if it was! A special treat when I’m out that way!"

"Been meaning to try this local bakery for a while and it was fine. Drip coffee $3. An interesting assortment of croissants, challah and scones with a $13 deal on 4 day-old pastries. The cheddar, garlic, herb scone I got was really dry, which I know is how scones are but it was unpleasantly so. I asked if they could warm it up and the polite but aloof cashier said unfortunately no, they don’t do that. There is no indoor seating, just two small metal outdoor tables. More like three stars tbh but it’s a small local bakery with nothing inherently wrong with it and I love to see small businesses. Nothing wrong with giving in a try at least once and maybe you’ll get something yummier! Their croissants seem to be their speciality and they looked very stretchy and fluffy inside based on a girl eating one near me."

"Second time here and I like this spot.. Both times had a biscuit and coffee. The BEC biscuit was great. Tried the country ham biscuit the second time. Flaky..."
