"I had never stopped in Brattleboro before, and this was the first place I wanted to stop into when my wife and I got out of the car. The owner carries a wonderful curated selection of used books for just about every customer. My favorite things about this indie store were the personal touches hidden behind every stack of books. The LEGO sign near the front door, the coffee chocolate, the little knickknacks hidden among the shelves, the "Boids!" genre sign near the Animals section. The owner - Ian - was very kind and excited to welcome us to Brattleboro, he suggested a great little pub and I talked up a book that I almost purchased that was eyeing me in the stack next to his register. He was so intrigued that he asked if he could "unsell" it to me. I have worked in bookstores and publishing for 5 years, and that was the first time I ever convinced a bookseller to not sell me a book so they could read it! Overall, it was a wonderful experience and a warm welcome to a town I will most likely move to in the coming year. Ian, if you're reading this let me know if you need a social media manager in 2027. "Tucked away in a corner of Brattleboro, Book Lovers was a joy to visit. With an amazing selection for a small shop, my friend not only found the book she had been hunting for, but it was also a signed first edition reasonably priced! The owner Ian was friendly and a wonderful conversationalist as we discussed genres, authors, and tv. He mentioned wanting to start a podcast, and let’s just say, I’ll be a subscriber to hear the insights and conversations Ian finds himself in! Loved spending time at Book Lovers."
