What People Are Saying
from Google"A super bougie grocery store, but not in a bad way. Lots of organic options, lots of local food and products. Pretty pricy, but organic + tourist area=high prices. Staff was always super friendly and seemed genuinely happy to be there and help. It isn’t a big place, but they had all the staples we needed. Cheese options were plentiful as you’d imagine here. They had a meat counter, a big coffee bean area, and several wines. Not an every day grocery store but good for a short holiday trip."
"Vermont has some of the very best examples what life can be like in the United States. This supermarket is a nexus of these things. At Commodities, you will see the foodstuffs developed by local Vermonters and nationwide chains alike. These foods are of a higher quality when compared to other places. Of course, the price is going to be higher as a result of that. But, when you think about food and the way we eat it, is it something you consider an investment for your body, or just a short term solution for your hunger? This is an interesting philosophical debate that is best done after two people have eaten a little bit, preferably from Vermont. The store is smaller than a traditional organic grocer in an urban setting, but that is because the population density of Vermont is a bit lighter. However, that does not hinder selection. There were plenty of options, so plan on going there and spending a bit of time looking up above to the top of the aisles, and down below where your feet are. Take your time because you might miss out! At Commodities, you see the passions of the Vermont farmer. I'm glad I was able to visit this place!"
"I dont normally write reiviews, but Commodities really deserves one. The selection here is amazing! there’s always something new and interesting to discover, and the prices are surprisingly reasonable for the quality. You can tell the store really cares about what they stock. And honestly, there are two staff in particular I have to mention: Emerson and Craig. The place just wouldn’t be the same without them. Their personalities, humor, product knowledge, and attentiveness are such a big part of what makes Commodities special, and part of the reason I actually look forward to grocery shopping here. They’re honestly two of my favorite people every time I visit Stowe."
"This place has a ton of great food options and fantastic wine selection, but what really stood out to me was the guy running the front end, Craig. He was so friendly, really personable, and somehow knows everything in the store. I watched him handle a big rush of people like it was nothing, and he still made everyone feel taken care of. I dont know where they found this guy, but if you guys read reviews: Please Keep Him Around 🙏 There was also another employee with purple hair. I didn’t catch her name, but she was incredibly helpful and had such an awesome energy. Watching her and Craig work together was honestly one of the most fun and friendly customer service moments I’ve had anywhere. Even if you don’t need groceries, it’s worth stopping in just to meet these two. They really go above and beyond."
"Good store for organic, gluten free, dairy free products etc. if you want a regular grocery store hit Shaws instead but this has better higher end food and specialty diet foods."
