What People Are Saying
from Google"I’m writing this review because I’m very concerned that I was almost scammed. This wasn’t apparent to me until later in the evening when our waitress brought our check, but I want to begin before then. I ordered from the prefix menu ($84) and ordered the filet mignon after asking if the steak was an option on the menu. When that entree arrived I was certain it was Short rib and not filet mignon, albeit tasty, but not the steak I ordered. I did not complain as it was late in the night and I was having an anniversary with my girlfriend. We ordered profiteroles as dessert (delicious.) once our check arrived there were two desserts that neither of us ordered on it. As a server myself I have no idea how our waitress “accidentally” added two desserts to our tab, but also there was a $10 up charge for the filet mignon (which wasn’t even a filet!) that I was never made aware of. I spent $400 on this meal including our bottle of wine and tip. I had to write this review because in the moment I wasn’t able to speak up, but I truly do feel that either our waitress was trying to take advantage of us or not being clear on what was offered on the menu, which is fraudulent in its own way. I would be careful going into this place and ordering such expensive entree’s and wine, without being sure of exactly what you’re ordering before hand."
"For a restaurant that only serves a prix fixe menu, I was disappointed that the food wasn’t as tasty. My smoked salmon appetizer didn’t have any smoke flavoring, so it tasted just like any lox and the pasta was over cooked and drenched in cream sauce. That said, the lamb in puff pastry and the duck entrees were both excellent. Service was attentive."
"I really wanted to love this place, especially since it came highly recommended. The host was nowhere to be found and we weren't seated for a good 10 minutes. My husband and I both ordered the prix fixe menu. The fish chowder was fine, the salads were underwhelming, and while my husband’s cod was good, my rack of lamb was unfortunately flavorless. The cocktails missed the mark, and our server wasn’t very warm or welcoming. Overall, the atmosphere felt a bit drab, and the experience didn’t live up to the hype. Especially disappointing given we spent nearly $300 on the meal."
"Old place with a history, in the beautiful town of Woodstock Vermont. Pleasant service. We did not do the price fix but went with just an entree each. The food was just not good. I had the boneless rack of lamb.$63.00. It was, I hate to say this, terrible. Sorry. My wife had the special grey sole, meh. It came with a flavorless mound of white rice."
"The service and atmosphere couldn't have been better. Our waitress was wonderful and inside the restaurant was very cozy. The phone number on their website doesn't work, but the Google number is correct. But we were able to make reservations despite being last minute because we kept calling the number on their website. Anyhow, Our food was very good... we both took advantage of the fixed menu. I had prime rib, salad with bleu and ramp pasta. My companion had prime rib, salad with bleu cheese and poached pears with fried goat cheese with a wine reduction. First off our prime ribs were drastically different. Mine was cut much thicker where my husband's was A LOT thinner. I ordered mine cooked to medium he ordered medium rare. I would say they were both on the rarer side. The horseradish sauce and auju both fabulous. Rib was a little too fatty, but made the dog happy! Lol. Salads were both very good, fresh and ample cheesed. Pasta was good but not hugely ramp flavored. All this said the goat cheese and poached pear with wine sauce was AMAZING (see pics) The cheese was perfectly cooked with a light crispy outside. The pears and sauce perfectly complimented the cheese. If its on the menu, don't miss this wonderful appetizer. Also ordered a maple berry mule (it was not in the traditional copper). The drink was delish! Recommend!"
