from Google"Went there after our Underground Tour. The bat is pretty old and we loved the atmosphere there. Went had some good cold beer and wings. The wings were just perfect. Would definitely come again."
"In my short time in Seattle, I have been exploring the city. I made my way down to Pioneer Square to check-out another old-time Washington restaurant/bar/saloon. For lunch, I stopped in the Merchant’s Café and Saloon, established in 1890. I started with a shot of whiskey. I rarely drink whiskey but thought it appropriate in an old saloon. I asked the cook “what would you eat on your break?” He said, “chicken wings” and listed the sauces. He offered to combine the BBQ and Honey sauces which I gladly accepted. The wings were crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. The sauce was fantastic. The service was awesome as was the beautiful old Seattle saloon."
"Stopped in on a quiet Tuesday evening after taking the underground tour. We were the only ones in the bar for quite a while. Bartender was very friendly and we had great conversation. Learned that the basement is apparently haunted if you're in to that kind of stuff. Tried Douglas beer which is apparently difficult to find...which is unfortunate because I loved it. Nice little old bar, but not much if you're looking for a social vibe."
"Oldest bar in Seattle. Plenty of seating. It's an unassuming bar. Extra loud games on television. Uninterested bar tenders have trouble making menu shots. Is it a sports bar?"
"I love going to the historic places like this. The basement had great ambiance and felt like a classic old lounge. I was ready to see a ghost. ;) The only thing I wish was that they would have stayed open later. They were closing down around 12am on a Friday. My group met me there but they wouldn't be served so we left. I'd still go back. Just earlier!"
