What People Are Saying
from Google & Yelp"Our first time here and were looking forward to it. We made reservations online for 2 people 7pm on a Friday night. The restaurant itself is decorated nice and looked inviting. Our waitress was not friendly, at all. When I asked how she was doing tonight, she did not make eye contact and she responded "well you can see how hectic it is". There were only 7 tables with guests and we counted 4 servers taking care of them. When I told her this was our first time here and what would she recommend on the menu, she literally had a meltdown and had to compose herself before making suggestions. Calamari was stuck together in clumps and we thought it was fried cauliflower at first. Fried fish was just ok, sweet potato waffle fries were good, coleslaw comes in a disposable plastic bowl. We each had an old fashioned and they were just ok. She did not ask if we would like additional beverages. The bar area looked lively, maybe we should have sat in there instead. When she came back after we paid the bill, she said her scripted spiel about how the buffet will be back in the spring, we won't be back though because of our experience."
"We had an unusual Monday evening dinner. It was our first time at 1844. The dining room was nearly empty, only one table was occupied when we were seated. 4 other tables filled in as the evening went on ... so it was slow, but not a ghost town. The waitress was perfectly nice. Everything was rather slow, weirdly slow, so slow it was a bit awkward. Food and drink was good, but far from awesome. I'm really easy to please so that says something. The place looks really nice ... outside and inside. One minor annoyance was a group chatting very loudly in the bar nearby. The menu was limited compared to some other restaurants. One surprise was dinner did not include a salad. We ordered the cheese curds for an appetizer and it was super. I'd go back, but I'd hope to hit a better night service wise."
"The prime rib was the best I have had in a long time it was perfect. The medallions with the cowboy butter was excellent. And let's talk about dessert WOW! The butterscotch budino was the most amazing thing I have had (mic drop)"
"We booked the Santa brunch this year for the second year in a row here. Last year I would say it was decent. It was very disappointing this year. Our reservation was an hour and a half before close. They didnt restock some of the food (so it may have already been gone?) and some looked like it had been sitting there for a long time. The selection of food was odd and much of the food was cold. The service at the table was less than mediocre. The only thing I was excited about at that point was the fresh omelettes you could order until the guy burnt it and close to the point where I didn't want to even want to eat it. The only thing that was good at the Santa brunch was Santa and my kids enjoyed the visit with him, but that's about it. Definitely wasn't worth the almost $28 a person for an adult."
"Went to dinner on trivia night unknowingly. Trivia could have been fun but our appetizer took 30 minutes and our meals took over 45 minutes to arrive (2 people and only one other table of 6 in the whole restaurant) We had several thoughts of just getting up and leaving but stayed to give them a chance. Totally disappointed. Veggies were mostly onions and completely bland and sad looking. The food was just not good looking or tasting and not worth the price or the wait. I’d rather go to Olive Garden. And on top of everything my friend got food poisoning. Safe to say we won’t be returning. I hope this place can do better because it’s a really convenient and cute spot when staying at the hotel."
"service is okay, but coffee and food were so unexpected and pricey. The breakfast melt (definitely didn't melt) was so poorly assembled. And coffee was not..."
