from Google & Yelp"Finally had the chance to come check this place out tonight we arrived at about 5:45 PM and we’re seated promptly. The atmosphere was relaxing and and inviting music playing in the background. Everything gave off a welcoming and chill vibe. We started off with a patty and some fritters everything was seasoned with a great balance not too salty not over seasoned not underseasoned. The patties had a great flaky crust the fritters were fried to perfection not oily. We were a party of three for our main entrées. We had the meatballs, jerk, chicken, and oxtails for sides. We had cabbage, mac & cheese, dumplings, rice, and beans, and festival. Again, everything was cooked to perfection. Nothing was undercooked nothing was overcooked. The oxtails were very tender. The jerk chicken was seasoned to perfection and tender and juicy as well. The gravy was so good. I got some on the side to take home definitely 10 out of 10 as far the service we were greeted immediately when we came in we were seated promptly. Everyone there had smiles, pleasant conversation, professional, yet warm, and welcoming demeanor. Overall, a great experience we will be back!"
"The last Jamaican spot I went to in Milwaukee didn’t have anything I actually wanted… but this place? Oh, they had EVERYTHING. So naturally, I ordered… well, everything. And let me tell you—it was all chef’s kiss. The owner herself came out to serve us, and she was amazing—super nice, welcoming, and proud of her food (and she should be!). You could taste that love in every bite. The oxtails? Melt-in-your-mouth good. The jerk chicken? Smoked perfection. And the rice & peas? I drowned them in gravy like a true Jamaican uncle would say, “Dat’s how yuh eat it,” and it was absolutely delicious. Hands down the best Jamaican food in Milwaukee. I’m already planning my return trip in a few days… because once isn’t enough."
"The plantains weren't soft and squishy they were kind of dry. Not what I expect from a traditional sweet Plantain. Everything else was phenomenal, especially the oxtail. I will be back, just not for the plantains. Probably the rice and cabbage only."
"Being from the Caribbean, it's hard to find good island food in my city when dining out. Mobay Cafe provided that experience that I was craving. With the starters, please try the meatballs. They added thyme to them, which took it up a notch. They were moist, flavorful, and oh so scrumptious. For dinner, I had the combo plate of curry chicken and oxtail. I was not disappointed. My only gripe was that I wanted more of the oxtails and the plantains WERE NOT RIPE OR SWEET. We were not happy about that. It seems to be a complaint that many people have about the menu. The plantains need to be more ripe. The lamb chops were also packed with flavor and beautifully plated. Just be careful because it's a bit spicy due to the fact that it was made with the jerk sauce. The goat and curry shrimp were also a big hit with my party. If you're looking for good food, Mobay Cafe may be the place for you. But don't take my word for it. Try it for yourself."
"We had a wonderful family experience at Mobay Cafe last night. We made a reservation and the table was ready for us when we arrived - with flowers on the table. The food was AMAZING, the staff was friendly and the drinks were absolutely delicious. Everything was reasonably priced and we went home with plenty of leftovers. The place had a nice atmosphere and there is even a larger dining table in the back to host a large group. We will definitely be back for more."
"I was going for happy hour from 4-6 pm but realized the regular menu is way better and had to try the cafe jerk chicken large platter. It was a lot of food..."
