What People Are Saying
from Google"Lake is such a great local spot. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, and everything tastes fresh and homemade. Their desserts are always delicious, and the coffee and specialty drinks are just as good. The staff is friendly and makes the experience even better. It can get busy, but that just shows how good it is — definitely worth stopping by for a sweet treat or coffee break."
"Almost Heaven Desserts & Coffee (but like, only almost) 📍Cheat Landing, Morgantown, WV ✨Aesthetic: 10/10 🥧 Dessert game: emotionally unstable Okay besties, buckle up. This is the story of how my daughter’s 21st birthday dessert plan derailed faster than my New Year’s resolutions. So the squad (me, wife, daughters) links up in Morgantown to celebrate the Big 2-1 with some Thai food and light consumerism at Ulta and Old Navy. Mood: festive. Dessert vibes: HIGH. I volunteered as tribute to grab treats while they shopped. Original plan? Apple Annie’s. I pull up, heart full, only to find it’s closed on Sundays. Like, what is this? Chick-fil-A logic? Close on Mondays, be normal. Plan B: Almost Heaven Desserts—close by, cute, and vibey. I roll up and it’s giving modern farmhouse café-core. Cozy seats, cute decor, free WiFi, and two gender-neutral bathrooms fully stocked with diapers. Like, a shocking number of diapers. Okay then. ☕️ Atmosphere: • Honestly, 10/10 for interior vibes. • The barista was deep in their own world, which was fine. Felt like I was in a slow-paced Paris café, minus the croissants and plus a dessert case that stared into my soul. 🥧 The Order: I start snapping pics of the dessert case and drop them in the family group chat. Votes come in: • Coconut Cream Pie — the Beyoncé of the bunch. Silky, creamy, and the crust had me humming. • Raspberry Cheesecake — elite choice by the Mrs., raspberry + chocolate = soulmate energy. • Peanut Butter Pie — the birthday girl’s only request. And here’s where things went left. There’s a full uncut PB pie in the case. Like, pristine. Glowing under the lights. But when I ask for two slices, the barista hits me with the, “Sorry, we don’t slice into full pies that’s the bakers job.” (I’m paraphrasing she was NOT rude, no CAP.) I’m sorry, what? It’s dessert, not a Fabergé egg. You’d rather let the PB pie sleep in the fridge than make a 21-year-old’s birthday? Brutal. I offer alternatives. Another coconut cream maybe? Nope. Also a full pie. Not for slicing. Vibes? Off. Birthday girl ends up with Reese’s Cheesecake which, plot twist, tastes like neither chocolate nor PB. It was giving dry crumble-core. I chose the Cookie Butter Cheesecake which looked cute but tasted like it had dreams and no ambition. Sad. Only the M&M cookie came through — it slapped and was promptly devoured. 💸 Price Check: $5.95 per dessert slice. Not bad, honestly. Big portions. Made fresh. But freshness ≠ flavor, apparently. Final Tea: If you’re in the Cheat Lake area and want a solid spot to sip coffee, scroll your phone, pretend you’re studying, or just vibe — this place is a yes. But if you’re out here with a craving for PB pie or birthday-level expectations? Proceed with caution. And to the staff: maybe slice the pie next time. The emotional damage was real. 😩🫠 TL;DR: Come for the cookie. Stay for the aesthetic. Just don’t count on the pie. PS - This review is written for your entertainment and this establishment is worthy of your patronage as a locally owned business. A great alternative to the soul sucking multinational Starbucks."
"The best breakfast bagel sandwich I’ve ever had! Egg was cooked and seasoned perfectly and bacon was crisp! Flavor was incredible! Hubby said coffee was great! the service was wonderful too! Will definitely go back when in Morgantown again. Only suggestion is to offer juice. It’s a breakfast place and not everyone drinks coffee."
"Service is terrible. Feels like the staff are perpetually on their first day and are clueless. We were served by Isabella who forgot our order, then made it incorrectly, twice! Going to the counter a third time to get you my drink made is pretty poor. Coffee and the food is great if they have it in stock and if they are able to get it out to you. I would avoid if at all possible."
"Today, 08/09/25, I ordered 2 coffees and a muffin from a very unpleasant cashier. After I waited a very long time, one of my coffees was put up on the counter and my name was called. I stood near that coffee to wait for my second one. The barista called a girl from the back to (nastily) ask her to ask me what I was just standing here waiting on. The girl from the back kindly asked me and I said “my second drink that she still has back there”. The barista put up my second drink on the counter, I grabbed them both and left. When I got in my car I opened the muffin to the picture below, mold inside. Needless to say, the place is very cute but the service is nowhere near friendly and the food is literally not edible. UPDATE: I called to warn them about the moldy muffins so no one else got one, I was handed over to the shift manager who was nice, apologized, and offered me a refund."
